SCHOOL CLOSURES AND REORGANISATION

This is a particularly difficult area of the Law.

Parents of children that attend a school that has been earmarked for closure often suffer a very daunting prospect. However there is a proper statutory procedure that an LEA that proposes to close a school must follow. Parents also have the right to be consulted on the proposal.

Consultation must take place at the appropriate time which of course means that it should not take place after a decision has already been made. This of course means that local authorities must ensure that they avoid allegations that consultation is a "sham".

If you are affected by such a decision then speak to a specialist today on 02920 706444.
