Failure to Send a Child to School

Failure to send a child to school can result in a parent being found guilty of a criminal offence under section 444 of the Education Act 1996 if a child is of a compulsory school age and is a registered pupil at a school and fails to attend regularly at the school.

Such offences can attract fines or even a prison sentence.
