We have the benefit of a contract with the Legal Services Commission and as such Sinclairslaw (formerly Sinclairs Solicitors) are able to undertake Legal Aid work subject to financial eligibility. Under proposed government plans, there is strong likelihood that Public Funding will be removed from scope for most Private Law divorces, and related matters concerning children or family finances, so it is important to take action now if you hope to secure Public Funding.

Legal Aid in Family Law

In order to apply for full legal aid to bring proceedings before the court in a family case you will need to make an application. This can take time, and will involve the Legal Services Commission receiving a formal application on a standard application form usually known as a CLS APP 3 form.These are forms we will complete and submit on your behalf when you make an appointment to see us. However if you want to make an application for Public Funding it is always helpful if you bring up to date information in relation to your finances, and ideally three months recent bank statements.
