The financial implications of creating a civil partnership
The Act creates a substantial number of rights for civil partners.
A civil partner is entitled to a beneficial interest if they have contributed towards property improvement. All of the legislation in relation to Wills is amended so that it applies equally to civil partnerships as it does to marriage. The significance of this is obviously that property will pass to one's partner as it would to one's spouse on death without a will.
